Fiona Songel opened La Primera bookstore in 2019 after years working on digital marketing, becoming over time a place of worship for lovers of books and cultural events.

At number 106 Guillem de Castro Street, she opened this bookstore two years ago, which is already one of the best known in the city. According to its own owner: “I chose the premises because it allowed me to have a small and independent bookstore, but it also offered me a large ‘hidden’ space in which to manage cultural events, which is something that I am passionate about.”

For the refurbishment of this space, Fiona Songel worked side by side with architect Javi Castellar who perfectly understood what her creator had in mind and helped her carry it out. “It was a priority for me to preserve the elements that told the story of the businesses that had occupied this space in the past. The shelves, for example, are the drawers of an old stationery store. We also kept the original metal door, which is one of my favorite elements,” adds Fiona.

In addition to a regular bookstore, customers will find good copies from independent publishers and a welcoming community that meets to talk about books, learn about movies or attend various workshops. All this in a diaphanous space, with comfortable elements and neutral colors that invite you to stay in the different rooms for hours.
